ATTENTION! I NEED TO FIND SOMEONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO TAKE ON THE RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS SITE, AS I AM GETTING UP THERE IN AGE, AND SOMEONE YOUNGER NEEDS TO KEEP IT GOING, ESPECIALLY SINCE THERE IS SO MUCH VALUABLE AND WELL-RESEARCHED HISTORICAL INFORMATION! PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU ARE INTERESTED: MIKEYDV@COMCAST.NET
There are so many options, and we are enjoying giving you lots and lots of choices. Pages will remain open for different periods of time and will change on a frequent basis so please check them often for new additions or recent changes. Some pages (like "May I Have The Envelope, Please" ) will remain open because the information provided is historical in nature and is only updated once a year. We have offered not only great listening selections, but also many other forms of entertainment. There are youtubes to click on, there are links to a world of entertainment, and there is all music on the "Music! Music! Music!" page. From Hollywood and Broadway, to television and movies, it is all here. Check it out.
We are trying to navigate this wonderful site...You should too!
Our site bridges the gap between the best of the 40's and even the best of today
From Doris Day, Teresa Brewer and Jo Stafford to Diana Krall and Shirley Bassey, from Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Perry Como and Elvis Presley to Michael Buble', Train and One Direction and everyone in between, we're celebrating the music, movies and tv shows you love here at SONGS AND MEMORIES (formerly Sampod4u). Pop standards, smooth ballads, big bands and their famous vocalists, lite jazz, novelty songs, one hit wonders, Broadway, and much, MUCH more. We've found great musical, tv and movie suggestions for everybody, and we love to share. We also honor requests; so keep in touch. As always, we certainly would like to know what you think!
We are very happy to have some very regular members who comment on the forums and help to keep the discussions lively. Please consider adding your own comments to theirs. Sign in and join the fun. Also, be aware that the regulars provide some truly great links to music, movies, tv shows, and also other forms of great entertainment and a wide variety of topics on which to offer opinions for other members. Please join in and add your own "two cents" as often as you like. We'd love it! We try to keep the topics up to date. (Please note that our previous forum is now available in our Archive Pages on the sidebar menu.) In our almost 10 years of existence as a website, we have been blessed by having many visitors to our forum. Unfortunately, not enough of our visitors help to keep the comments going. Please participate: this is the whole point!
MIKE DEVITA began the website with help from several friends who have now moved on to their own agendas. Mike is happy to share his many files, pictures, and lifelong memories with others who appreciate a long look at the past. If you have questions, just ask. We will do our best to give quick, responsive answers.
Lest we forget: Bella And Bobo are always close by to make sure we are being kind to animals!
Carol Johnson
Hello all my forum friends.
Now, where is the glue?
A Georgia gal, Carol, like Mike, is a long-time Doris Day fan. When she enjoys something, she likes to share that enjoyment with all her friends, either up close and personal, or online in some of her favorite places: websites, forums, and facebook. As a personal, public relations agent, working tirelessly behind the scenes, there are few better. And what's nicer is that she is an excellent listener. She is loyal, with a capital "L", to her friends and favorites, whether they be icons like Doris Day or friends like Mike. Carol serves our site as the in house Forum Administrator. She would love for you to comment and reply often. Let her know how you feel about our site. But she adds: "A little advice...remember to be nice."
OUR WONDERFUL WEBSITE TEAM is what makes the job of running a website a joy rather than a chore. When we began our original site (SAMPOD4U.COM), Carol and Mike got the ball rolling. Several others have helped along the way. We thank all who have shared their talents with us through the years, and also supported our efforts at producing a site that now has many, many daily visitors, who are always welcome. And like us on facebook, too!
WE ARE ESPECIALLY GRATEFUL TO THOSE FOLKS WHO CONTRIBUTE IDEAS AND CONTENT TO OUR PAGES FROM TIME TO TIME. We are so glad to have you with us.

No list of what makes this a special place would be complete without acknowledging its viewers. We are still building our special friends. If you're taking the time to be with us, we want to take the time to listen to you. So be sure to let us know what we're doing right or what we're doing wrong. And if you have any suggestions, we will do our best to comply. Use the contact page to keep in touch. The forum (see comments above) is also a good place to connect, as well as to share your opinions.
Doris Day's devotion to the welfare and protection of animals is legendary. In 1971, she co-foundedActors and Others for Animals. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Doris promoted the annual Spay Day USA, and on a number of occasions, actively lobbied the United States Congress in support of legislation designed to safeguard animal rights. She later founded The Doris Day Animal League. Today, the Doris Day Animal Foundation focuses on funding non-profit causes that need help in their work caring for and protecting animals. Click on the red link above to learn more about the important work being done by the DDAF, and please consider making a donation to support this worthwhile cause. This is the "career" Doris has embraced since her "retirement" from entertainment.
